【 要旨 】 2008年にAkermanらによって発表されたスパイラル内視鏡の挿入原理，技術をオリンパス社が2011年に取得し，電動化した内視鏡システムがPowerSpiralである．PowerSpiralは，ディスポーザブルのらせん状フィンを有するオーバーチューブをスコープに装着し，オーバーチューブを電動で回転させ腸管を手繰り寄せるようにしながら挿入する．本邦ではまだ導入の段階であるが，欧米からはいくつかの報告があり，高い挿入性能が報告されている．
