Resection of colorectal polyps decreases the prevalence of colorectal cancer and subsequent mortality. Therefore, eradication of colorectal polyps, even diminutive ones, is routine practice in our clinic. The method of treatment is chosen based on the fixed standard that we established. Colorectal polyps with findings suggesting possible malignancy should be carefully treated by hot snare polypectomy or EMR because cold snare polypectomy does not always resect the muscularis mucosa. No adverse events were observed in the cases with cold snare polypectomy, whereas post‒procedural bleeding occurred in 1 % of those with hot snare polypectomy and EMR. Cold snare polypectomy could be a safe therapeutic option, even for patients taking antithrombotic agents. It is important to arrange a contingency plan beforehand with affiliated hospitals because private clinics may not be able to deal with adverse events. |
