| [ Summary ] |
Due to the recent trend of less invasive surgery, the number of laparoscopic gastrectomies for gastric cancer has been gradually increasing. However, it has less‒invasive and cosmetic benefits, linear forceps have difficulty in manipulating tissues in the limited space of the upper abdominal area. On the other hand, there are several advantages such as 3D high‒definition imaging, multi‒functional forceps with freely moving joints, and forceps with a filter to remove shaking in robot‒assisted surgery, which may overcome the issues currently existing in laparoscopic surgery. Thus, we may achieve more sophisticated surgery along the anatomical structures with a robot even in difficult surgeries. In this article, we will show the current status, issues, and future perspectives on robot‒assisted gastrectomy. |
