| [ Summary ] |
We investigated the recurrence rate of small/diminutive polyps for patients who underwent surveillance colonoscopy after cold snare polypectomy (CSP) in our institution. In 335 cases with 1,144 lesions, 136 (40 %) underwent surveillance colonoscopy. The median follow-up period was twenty six months. The range was eight months to forty seven months. Recurrence was diagnosed in two lesions (0.4 %). It is unlikely that the recurrence rate for those with CSP is higher than for those with hot snare polypectomy (HSP) as indicated in previous reports. Although it seems to be that we do not need to consider shorter surveillance periods after CSP, there is reason to consider shorter surveillance intervals when the lesions are intra-mucosal carcinomas. |
