[ Summary ] |
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is known as a radiosensitive tumor. Radiation therapy is one local therapy, which is applicable to intra- and extra-hepatic lesions of HCC. This treatment has a broad range of goal from palliation to local cure depending on the clinical needs. Stereotactic body radiation therapy or particle therapy would be the choice for local cure. Local control rate around ninety percent can be expected with this type of therapy. Three-D conformal radiotherapy can play a role in multidisciplinary approach. HCC with portal tumor thrombus is the major indication for combined transarterial chemoembolization and 3-D conformal radiotherapy. |
