| [ Summary ] |
Colorectal submucosal tumor (SMT) is relatively rare. The prevalence is approximately 3-5 %, but various diseases are included, such as non-epithelial mesenchymal tumors and, in a wide sense, epithelial neoplasm or non-tumor that shows submucosal tumor-like appearance. We outlined the colorectal SMT that is frequently found in routine colonoscopy: lipoma, lymphangioma, intestinal endometriosis, lymphoma, neuroendocrine tumor (carcinoid tumor), malignant melanoma, and gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST). To determine the appropriate treatment for these diseases, a thorough understanding of the clinical features and imaging findings is required. |
