[ Summary ] |
Successful endoscopic resection (ER) for superficial nonampullary duodenal epithelial tumor (SNADET) requires not only a high level of technical skills, but also an efficient strategy to avoid delayed perforation and postoperative hemorrhage that might occur secondary to exposure of the post-resection ulcer to bile and pancreatic juice. Therefore, to perform safe ER, reliable closure of the ulcer is essential after resection. Closure of the ulcer using the Over-the-Scope Clip (OTSC) system is relatively simple and useful to prevent postoperative adverse events such as delayed perforation and hemorrhage. To conclude, the endoscopic treatment of SNADETs requires a clear understanding of the characteristics and technique of the OTSC system for effective closure of the ulcer. |
