[ Summary ] |
Endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) is an essential examination for treatment of biliary diseases, which provides high resolution images and enables excellent local evaluation. Diagnosis using EUS is used for diagnosis of gallbladder and bile duct stones, neoplastic lesions, tumor staging, and more, recently it has been used for pathological diagnosis by EUS‒FNA (endoscopic ultrasound‒guided fine needle aspiration). As an application in endoscopic treatment, EUS guided biliary drainage has been attempted, and further development of EUS‒based technique is expected in the future. Although it is not easy to acquire the EUS technique, it is important to deepen the understanding of the anatomy and location of the biliary tract and the standard technical method. |
