[ Summary ] |
By Japan having broken into the super aging society, it is thought that the demand for endoscopic treatment in the elderly colorectal cancer patients continues increasing more and more. Endoscopic treatment involves not only intraoperative management but also postoperative safety. In our hospital, a clinical pathway has been applied since 2007 to all patients who undergo colorectal endoscopic treatment. Utilization of such a clinical path facilitates quick and proper management of complications including postoperative perforation and bleeding. However, very careful perioperative management is essential in elderly patients, because they have a lot of underlying disease. |
