【 要旨 】 早期胃癌の内視鏡治療後，何年経過しても，ある一定の頻度で二次胃癌（異時性多発胃癌）は発生する．よって治療後経過観察内視鏡検査は，一生涯可能なかぎり受け続けることを勧めている．しかし，胃内視鏡検査を受けるか否かの自己意思決定ができなくなってしまった人，自力独歩での来院が不可能となってしまった人などは，経過観察の終了も一つの選択肢であろうと考える．

[ Summary ] Secondary gastric cancers (metachronous gastric cancers) are diagnosed at a fixed frequency after endoscopic treatment of early gastric cancer. Therefore, a regular follow‒up endoscopic examination is recommended lifelong. However, those patients who cannot undergo an endoscopic examination or cannot visit hospitals by themselves may skip endoscopic follow‒ups.
