[ Summary ] |
In a case of anal bleeding, after identification of the bleeding site, checking for the presence of anal pain, and observing the hematochezia, the differential diagnosis can be narrowed by evaluating the amount of bleeding and the persistence of bleeding. Most bleeding caused by anal disease is due to hemorrhoids or anal fissures ; however, malignancies such as anal cancer should always be considered. In daily practice, it is necessary to be familiar with anal examination, which is a simple and easy test to diagnose most cases of anal bleeding. The conservative treatment of hemorrhoids and anal fissures includes changing bowel habits, avoiding both diarrhea and constipation, bathing frequently and keeping the anus clean, and local drug therapy. If conservative treatment is not effective, surgical treatment should be considered. |
