[ Summary ] |
The goal of screening colonoscopy is to reduce the incidence and mortality of colorectal cancer through the detection of asymptomatic colorectal cancer and the removal of precancerous colorectal polyps. Increased attention has been paid to post‒colonoscopy colorectal cancer because its occurrence can be associated with the quality of a previous colonoscopy. Recently, an increasing number of studies focusing on quality control of colonoscopy have been published. The primary target during colonoscopy is to detect colorectal adenomas by careful inspection of the mucosa of the entire colorectum. Cecal intubation rate, bowel preparation, and adenoma detection rate are the primary quality indicators for adenoma detection. Herein, we introduce quality indicators of colonoscopy and review recent publications. |
