[ Summary ] |
Radiotherapy (RT) is one of the treatment methods for malignant gastrointestinal stenosis. For esophageal cancer, RT with 5‒FU and cisplatin is often performed. Some studies reported cases in which patients who received CCRT (concurrent chemoradiotherapy) achieved long time dysphagia symptom palliation;on the other hand, other studies referred to the 30‒50 % patients who might need endoscopic dilation for esophageal constriction after CRT (chemoradiotherapy). RT is an effective treatment for other malignant obstructions of the stomach and rectum, and can improve obstructive symptom and prognosis. |
