[ Summary ] |
Along with the recent increase in the incidence of diverticular diseases, the incidence of diverticulitis, which ranges from 10 % to 30 %, is also increasing. Diverticulitis sometimes required surgery. The gold standard imaging modality for the diagnosis of diverticulitis is CT. The incidence of diverticulitis in age groups younger than 65 years was significantly higher in the right colon than that in the left colon. The peak values of white blood cells and C-reactive protein were significantly higher in patients who received admission treatment than in those who did not receive admission treatment. These blood tests might be useful for determining whether a patient should be admitted. Cases with diverticulitis in the left colon and abscess formation are more likely to require surgery than those with diverticulitis in the right colon. |
