[ Summary ] |
Laterally spreading tumors (LSTs) treated in our hospital were analyzed. Our results indicated that, for LST‒Gs (homogeneous type), piecemeal resections would be acceptable due to the low risk of submucosal invasion. Thirty percent of LST‒Gs (nodular mixed type) and 20 % of LST‒NGs invaded the submucosal layer ; the non‒invasive lesions were characterized by, large nodules and multicentric growth, respectively. Because of the high frequency of submucosal cancers, en bloc removal in an endoscopic resection is preferable for sufficient histological evaluation for these types of LSTs. |
