【 要旨 】 潰瘍性大腸炎患者に対する大腸カプセル内視鏡検査は，大腸粘膜の炎症の程度，範囲を把握する目的のみで使用すべきである．また，潰瘍性大腸炎患者に対する大腸カプセル内視鏡検査は，従来報告されていた大腸カプセル内視鏡の前処置法と比較し，内服量減量が可能である．大腸カプセル内視鏡所見から判定したMatts の内視鏡スコアと通常大腸内視鏡から判定したMattsの内視鏡スコアは高い相関を示し，大腸カプセル内視鏡によって，大腸の炎症の程度を判定できることが示唆された．

[ Summary ] Colon capsule endoscopy (CCE) has already been used for the detection of polyps, although its applicability in inflammatory bowel disease remains unconfirmed. We studied the effectiveness of CCE in evaluating the severity of mucosal inflammation in patients with ulcerative colitis (UC). CCE is useful in evaluating the severity of mucosal inflammation in patients with UC but not for the surveillance of colitis‒associated cancer. The preparation of CCE for UC can be reduced as compared to that for polyp surveillance. Matts endoscopic scores determined by CCE showed a strong correlation with scores obtained by conventional colonoscopy in patients with UC.
