| [ Summary ] |
Non‒exposed endoscopic wall inversion surgery (NEWS) is an endoscopic and laparoscopic full‒thickness resection technique that does not require a transgastric access. Because it does not confer the risk of intra‒abdominal contamination or iatrogenic tumor seeding, minimally invasive, function‒preserving gastrectomy can be offered to patients with subepithelial tumors with ulceration or gastric cancer. Furthermore, through the combination of this technique with sentinel node navigation surgery, excessive stomach resection in patients with possible node‒positive early gastric cancer can be avoided. Although associated with several issues that need to be solved, NEWS is expected to be established and popularized as an ideal less‒invasive surgery. |
