[ Summary ] |
We reviewed the background and outline of the Tokyo Guidelines 2013 (TG13). The diagnostic criteria and severity assessment methods for acute cholangitis and cholecystitis were revised based on multicenter studies. Evidence levels were determined using the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) system. TG13 provides new entities such as management bundles, videos, and mobile applications. Management bundles define mandatory items or procedures to be performed for clinical practice compliance with the TG13. Videos demonstrating diagnostic imaging and drainage procedures, expected to enable easy understandings of these technique, are available online for practitioners. The TG13 mobile application was developed to upgrade the user experience. Since a mobile application can provide new information, it could be an important tool for disseminating the TG. These contents will contribute to the advancement of the TG. |
