[ Summary ] |
There are many uncertain points regarding small intestine mucosal injury in patients receiving antithrombotic agents. Although there are various types of antithrombotic agents, research on injuries due to individual drugs is still insufficient. This is because capsule endoscopy and the balloon endoscopy for examination of the small intestine is new. Mechanisms of antithrombotic agents, including low-dose aspirin induced small intestine mucosal injury, are similar to those of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Findings concerning the relationship between low-dose aspirin and small intestine mucosal injury have gradually accumulated thanks to clinical trials using capsule endoscopes. Strategies for prevention of gastrointestinal injury, including that in the small intestine are outlined to establish a basis for mechanisms, related to frequency, and the clinical features of low-dose aspirin induced small intestine mucosal injury. |
