Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is associated with ulcerative colitis and Crohnʼs disease. It may cause various extraintestinal complications as well as gastrointestinal lesions anywhere in the body. Gallstones and urinary calculus are also associated with IBD. The merger frequency of gallstones is said to be approximately 5 % in connection with ulcerative colitis and approximately 4.6 %, with Crohn's disease. The merger frequency of urinary calculus is said to be approximately 6.7 % in connection with Crohn's disease and approximately 3.4 % with ulcerative colitis. Both conditions are complications from IBD. The origins, treatment options and frequency of occurrence are reported. |
