[ Summary ] |
Liver biopsy, the gold standard for staging and monitoring NAFLD/NASH, is not feasible for all patients. Noninvasive methods such as abdominal ultrasonography, CTs, or MRIs are safe methods to develop diagnoses of hepatic steatosis. However, advanced histopathologic findings concerning the liver, including NASH and fibrosis cannot be identified without conducting liver biopsies. Recent advances in imaging methods aim to determine the severity of inflammation and fibrosis noninvasively. |
