[ Summary ] |
The WHO classification, the TNM classification, as well as points concerning pathological diagnosis of neuroendocrine neoplasms of the pancreas and gastrointestinal tract are described. Associated neoplasms are divided into three groups, that is, neuroendocrine tumors (NET), neuroendocrine carcinomas (NEC) and mixed adenoneuroendocrine carcinomas (MANEC) in reference to differences in histological findings and malignancy grade. Moreover, there are histological variations and different functions in each group so that careful pathological analyses are necessary for adequate clinical diagnosis and treatment. |
