[ Summary ] |
Animal models of gastric MALT lymphoma have been developed in many laboratories, using various kinds of Helicobacter species including Helicobacter felis, heilmannii and suis. These models were developed in BALB/c mice, C57BL/6 mice and other larger mammals. A suitable combination of mammals and bacteria was found to induce gastric MALT lymphoma and other related diseases. These animal models may be used for the elucidation of pathological processes of gastric MALT lymphoma, development of eradication regimes and other pharmacological studies to suppress tumor enlargement. Studies regarding translocation of chromosome are still difficult to conduct because counterparts of the alteration of chromosomes in animals have not been observed. |
