| [ Summary ] |
Ultrasound imaging is reviewed in relation to the pathology of cholesterol induced gallbladder polyps. This condition produces highly elevated lesions in the gallbladder and are a commonly encountered condition. Gallbladder surfaces often exhibit granular mulberry like textures. Ultrasonography plays a major role in the diagnosis of abdominal conditions. This disease is generally benign, with lesions being approximately 10 mm in size when first observed. Because the imaging findings are also typical of hyperplasia and ductal epithelial conditions, more specific information must be obtained. This condition is clinically difficult to distinguish from cancer. With EUS we may be able to depict what appears to be a granular nodular surface with abdominal ultrasonography and be able to diagnose atypical cases. |
