[ Summary ] |
Tumor-forming pancreatitis is defined radiologically as pancreatitis which morphologically resembles a 'mass' with radiological imaging. It is important to differertiate from pancreatic cancer in order to avoid unnecessary surgery. However, there are no specific radiological findings for the definitive diagnosis of tumor-forming pancreatitis. Therefore, it is quite important to diagnose tumor-forming pancreatitis not only by radiologic studies but also by pathologic examinations. Groove pancreatitis is a special form of pancreatitis affecting the groove between the head of the pancreas, the second part of the duodenum and the common bile duct. Although there are some specific clinical and radiologic findings, it is always essential to distinguish groove pancreatitis from groove pancreatic carainoma which occurs in the same area. |
