[ Summary ] |
We have introduced endoscopic full-thickness resection with laparoscopic assistance (laparoscopy-assisted endoscopic full-thickness resection; LAEFR) for treatment of gastric submucosal tumor (SMT) and early-stage gastric cancer. LAEFR may be considered as one of the so-called "hybrid NOTES (natural orifice translumenal endoscopic surgery)" because a peroral endoscope advances into the peritoneal cavity. LAEFR enabled whole-layer excision as small as possible with an adequate margin. We believe that LAEFR is a safe and minimally invasive treatment for selected patients with gastric SMT or early-stage gastric cancer, and could be a more reasonable and economical alternative to other laparoscopic procedures. |
