【 要旨 】 B型肝炎の病態形成には獲得免疫応答および自然免疫応答の両者が重要である．われわれは，HBe抗原が肝細胞のToll-like receptorをはじめとする自然免疫応答を抑制することによりインターフェロン，IL6を代表とするサイトカイン産生を直接抑制することを見出した．B型肝炎ウイルス（HBV）が自然免疫機構を障害することはHBV自体にとって生体防御機構に抵抗する重要な戦略の一つであると考えられた．

[ Summary ] Toll-like receptors (TLRs)-related signaling pathways are essential for the recognition of invading pathogens. These pathways contribute not only to innate but also adaptive immunity. We found that hepatitis B e antigen could directly suppress production of interferon and cytokines such as IL6 through inhibition of those pathways in human hepatocytes. Further studies to investigate these mechanisms are now going on.
