[ Summary ] |
Epidemiological studies have shown that risk for development of head and neckcancer is associated with smoking and alcohol drinking habits. Those risk factors overlap those related to lung, esophageal and gastric cancer. Therefore, the incidence of synchronous and metachronous multiple cancers in the airway or upper digestive tract is high in head and neckcancer patients. It is necessary to perform screening or surveillance endoscopy of the upper aerodigestive tract in patients with head and neckcancer. |
