【 要旨 】 免疫染色などの特殊染色は，標本の取扱いや保存状況，染色技術などによって偽陽性・偽陰性を生じる可能性がある．各々を否定するためには，各抗体についてbuilt-in controlを認識する，染色ステップの技術的な要因を否定する，適正な抗原賦活化処理を行う，固定良好な切片を選択する，などのことが重要であり，また，各抗原の細胞内局在を熟知しておかねばならない．免疫染色は有用な検索方法であるがゆえに補助診断としては諸刃の剣であることと，その原理と各染色ステップの意味付けを熟知していないと大きなpit-fallに陥る危険性が含まれていることは常に心に留めておくべきである．

[ Summary ] There are many false positive and negative reactions associated with immunohistochemistry, which are associated with fixation and technical problems. Important points concerning immunohistochemistry are follows ; recognition of built in control cells for individual antibodies, methodology of techniques for immunohistochemistry, adaptation of suitable antibody retrieval methods and specimens, choosing good fixative specimens, and the understanding of antigen localization. It is necessary to keep in mind that pathologists may draw the wrong conclusions without accurate technical immunohistochemical knowledge.
