[ Summary ] |
Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) for early gastrointestinal (GI) cancer is considered to be one of the most difficult endoscopic procedures. To perform this procedure safely, we need to learn many endoscopic techniques such as correct scope use, satisfactory hemostatic skills to control GI bleeding, and endoscopic suturing for perforations, using clips. The diagnostic ability to determine the extent and depth of early GI cancer is essential. Before performing ESD procedures, much experience with endoscopic polypectomy and conventional endoscopic mucosal resection is required. |
