【 要旨 】 E型肝炎ウイルスの核酸配列の解析が近年進行し,多くのデータが公開されているので,それらを収集・整理しデータベース化し,インターネット経由で公開した.登録されたデータは,ゲノム上の位置,およびウイルス株の系統関係の視点から参照でき,目的のデータを抽出できるほか,利用者が独自のデータ解析を実行することも可能である.本データベースは,系統進化学などの学術的な用途のみならず,診断やワクチン開発などの臨床分野においても示唆を得るのに有用であると期待される.

[ Summary ] Over 1,000 Hepatitis E Virus (HEV) sequences are now publicly available, and the number of these sequences is increasing rapidly. Therefore, it is worthwhile to construct a specialized database for viral sequences and to make it accessible to researchers worldwide.
We have developed a database known as the “Hepatitis Virus Database (HVDB)”, which contains all the HCV and HBV sequences publicly available, and now we have made an HEV data set in the HVDB and opened it to the public. In the HVDB, all piece sequences obtained from public databases are arranged in relation to the genome sequence of HEV. Also, given in the database, are the phylogenetic relationships of each locus on the genome, including variants. Therefore, users can easily retrieve entries for specific genome types by referring to the phylogenetic relationships or those of specific loci by referring to the genome map information. The HVDB also provides users with a tool for phylogenetic analysis that can be used in combination with data retrieval tools.
The HVDB is valuable not only for academic purposes, such as phylogenetic analyses, but also for clinical purposes, such as diagnoses and vaccine development.
