Recent reports have described techniques interventional endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) applications. In these techniques for interventional EUS, EUS-guided pancreatic pseudocyst drainage and celiac plexus injection are the most established techniques. These therapies have traditionally relied on surgical and percutaneous approaches. Convex or linear array EUS has ushered in the potential for interventional applications of EUS analogous to interventional percutaneous procedures with sonographic and CT guidance. These echoendoscopes produce images parallel to those from the long axis, making it possible to follow needle movements in real time. If the Doppler mode is added, it becomes possible to avoid vessels. EUS-guided intervention promises to be a more accurate and safer approach for target organs. In this paper, we described the indications, methods and complications of EUS-guided pancreatic pseudocyst drainage and celiac plexus injection. |
