| [ Summary ] |
Although several endoscopic classifications for chronic gastritis have been proposed in the past, no classification has been universally accepted. In place of descriptive classifications, we propose an endoscopic classification of chronic gastritis based upon pathogenesis, which may be categorized as being H.pylori-related, gastric acid-related or gastric motility-related chronic gastritis. Therapeutic decisions concerning chronic gastritis should be made based on subjective symptoms as well as pathogenesis. |
