The need for evidence based medical practice guidelines is under extensive debate in the health care community. The importance of creating these guidelines to improve and maintain the quality of health care is widely recognized. However, health care services differ according to each individual patient, and medical practice guidelines do not eliminate value judgments or the individual conditions of the patient. The actions taken by the national government or the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare to develop these guidelines and the measures pursued by the JMA to cope with the government's activities will be explained. There will be a focus on issues related JMA's views on medical practice guidelines. |
