[ Summary ] |
Stenting is useful for treatment of malignant esophageal stenosis, that is unresectable and has not improved through chemotherapy or radiation therapy, to relieve dysphagia and improve quality of life (QOL). However, we have encountered several cases in which stenting has been associated with complications, such as bleeding, perforations, gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD), migration of the stent and tumor overgrowth, or in which the patient's dysphagia has not been relieved. We must discuss the criteria for stenting in the esophagus, being careful of complications after stenting. |
