[ Summary ] |
Various endoscopic modalities have been established for the treatment of liver diseases. Recent innovations in laparoscopic instrumentation enable us to perform laparoscopic approachs for benign simple liver cysts, and are considered to be useful first choice procedures because of their low invasiveness. Laparo-thoracoscopic thermal ablation is also a minimal invasive therapy and can be applied to HCC patients with severe liver damage. In the case of malignant or benign liver tumors, which require liver resection, laparoscopic hepatectomy allows for radical local treatment and minimal distress to the patient, compared to open hepatectomy. In endoscopic surgical treatment of liver disease, appropriate selection of patients and strict choice of procedure are essential and contribute to improvements in the postoperative out comes. |
