Title NBrain-gut Interactions in Irritable Bowel Syndrome

[ Summary ] Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a disorder related to brain-gut interactions, which is typically associated with stress responses and emotional changes, due to lower gastrointestinal symptoms. Abnormal gastrointestinal motility, visceral hypersensitivity, and psychological abnormalities play important roles in the pathophysiology of IBS. Reciprocal interactions may be associated with the pathophysiological mechanisms. Moreover, recent research has closely on the sensitization of neurons from mucosal inflammation and genetic predispositions toward IBS. These new approaches for clarifying the etiology of IBS are warranted.
