【 要旨 】 上部消化器内視鏡検査の前処置における偶発症と対策について述べた．内視鏡医は前処置として使用する薬剤の薬理作用，副作用，そして救急処置に関する知識を学んでおくとともに，患者から内視鏡検査のインフォームド・コンセントを十分得ておくこと，内視鏡検査前・中・後における患者への注意深い観察が必要である．また不幸にして偶発症が発生した場合には，誠心誠意その治療にあたらなければならないことは言うまでもない．

[ Summary ] We have reported complications related to the pre-medication and related countermeasures in upper gastrointestinal endoscopy. Endoscopists should learn the pharmacological effects, side effects of the pre-medication, and emergency measures. Furthermore, they must get informed consent for endoscopic procedures from patients, and observe patients carefully, not only during endoscopic procedures, but also during pre-examination and post-examination. When a complication has occured, it goes without saying that we must deliver the best treatment for complications.
