[ Summary ] |
Since the first report of "Mucin hypersecreting carcinoma of the pancreas with favorable prognosis" by Ohhashi et al., mucin hypersecreting tumors of the pancreas have drawn the attention of clinicians. In 1996, the WHO and the AFIP proposed new classifications for pancreatic tumors. Recently, the general rules for study of pancreatic cancer of the Japan Pancreas Society have been under revision. Recent controversies on the classification in western countries and Japan concerning the "mucin hypersecreting tumors of the pancreas" are reviewed. |
