| [ Summary ] |
Although several methods have been used to evaluate gastric emptying, ultrasonography (US) is a simple, non-invasive modality for the assessment of gastric emptying and antral motility in either liquid or solid meal. After determining suitable foods for sonographic observetion, we used 400ml of meat soup as the liquid test meal, and egg and chicken soup mixed with rice as the solid test meal. We evaluated gastric emptying rates, fasting in relation to the antral area, antral contractions, and duodenogastric reflux. Delayed gastric emptying, decreased antral contractions, and increased duodenogastric reflux. Fasting in relation to the antral area was shown in functional dyspepsia patients. |
