[ Summary ] |
In Japan, gastric cancer remains a leading cause of death, due to malignant neoplasms. In cases of advanced and recurent gastric cancer it is difficult to perform curative resection. Chemotherapy for advanced gastric cancer is still seen as the main supporting therapy. However, recently some new anti cancer agents have been undergoing clinical trials and have demonstrated potential activity in patients. It has been reported in some papers, that TS-1 or Irinotecan hydrochloride (CPT-11) are effective. A combination of the therapies is expected to provide a new theraputic approarch. |
