Chlamydia trachomatis is a common, sexually transmitted disease. Because it is a sexually transmitted infection, the first point of infection in females is the sexual organs. Infection then spreads from the female sexual organs to the upper stomach cavity. Infection in the area of the uterus and adnexa spreads to the hepatic circumference, with abdominal pain resulting.
