[ Summary ] |
The outcome of liver transplantation, either using living or cadaver donors, has significantly improved. The five year survival rate has reached 75% to 80%. However, there still remain many problems to be solved. Although the short-term complications are well known, little is known about the long-term complications. Therefore, the long-term complications were presented in this chapter; 1) technical complications such as hepatic artery thrombosis, hepatic vein thrombosis, and biliary stricture, 2) immunologic complication such as chronic rejection, 3) adverse effects of immunosuppressive agents such as renal dysfunction, hypertension, diabetes, neurologic disorders, obesity, and hypercholesterolemia. |
