Intraluminal duodenal diverticulum (IDD) is a rare congenital anomaly, usually found in the second portion of the duodenum, near the duodenal papilla of Vater. As to diagnosis, there is a characteristic upper GI series image of a barium filled, pear-shaped sac, surrounded by a thin radiolucent line in the duodenum. There are many IDD complications associated with other congenital anomalies. There is also an association with peptic ulcers and acute pancreatitis. Management of IDD, has recently been reported through endoscopic excision, in some caces. |
