[ Summary ] Most low-grade B-cell gastric MALT lymphomas are evaluated as clinical stage I or II during diagnosis, and cases with stage III or IV are rare. The five-year survival rates for low-grade MALT lymphoma and large cell lymphoma were reportedly 75 - 100 % and 46 - 69 %, respectively. At least for prognostication purposes, it is important to make the distinction between low-grade B-cell MALT lymphoma and large B-cell lymphoma in the stomach. An increasing number of studies recently have reported the regression of low-grade B-cell gastric MALT lymphoma following treatment for H. pylori infection. The rates of complete remission were reportedly 50 - 80 %. However, the risk for progression to high-grade MALT lymphoma is still unknown. It is necessary to determine the long-term response of low-grade gastric MALT lymphoma to antibiotic treatment.
