[ Summary ] |
The histopathological features of low-grade MALT lymphoma of the stomach are summarized as follows: (1) non-neoplastic lymph follicular formation, (2) proliferation of atypical B-lymphocytes predominantly in the marginal zone of lymph follicles(necessary for diagnosis), (3) lymphoepithelial lesions, and (4) differentiation of lymphoma cells, etc. It is important to carefully recognize useful findings using immunohistochemistry in diagnosing biopsy specimens. After H.pylori-eradication, the disappearance of the lymphoma should be evaluated carefully for the changing pathological features of the lymphoma and surrounding stroma. Also, there are some important differential diagnoses for gastric MALT lymphoma including (1) reactive lymphoid hyperplasia, (2) follicular lymphoma, and (3) poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma, etc. |
