[ Summary ] |
Type A gastritis is a chronic from of atrophic gastritis, which is caused by an autoimmune reaction. One of its main characteristics is its relationship to the stomach. Antibodies developed in reaction to parietal cells and other intrinsic factors suggest that an autoimmune mechanism plays a role in the development of the gastritis. It is important to exclude this type of gastritis from the H.pylori negative atrophic gastritis group when elucidating the clinical relevance of H.pylori in comparison to H.pylori negative patients. |
