[ Summary ] |
The usefulness of primary nutritional therapy for Crohn's disease, such as total parenteral nutrition and elemental diet therapy, is recognized. Home elemental nutrition therapy is also excellent from the viewpoint of maintenance therapy as well as quality of life. However, there is a problem with recurrence after changing to an oral diet. Therefore, dietary guidance is important to the maintenance of remission in patients with Crohn's disease. Previously, a low fat, low residue diet was recommended for patients with Crohn's disease. However, the usefulness of omega-3 fatty acid or soluble dietary fiber in inflammatory bowel disease has been reported recently. Therefore, dietary guidance should be arranged, considering the quality of nutrients including the (omega-3/omega-6 ratio as well as the quantity of nutrients. |
