We herein outline several major techniques used in the molecular biological study of gastroenterology. Since the polymerase chain reaction(PCR) method of DNA amplification has recently become essential in molecular biology research,we first describe the PCR method, and then explain several specific application of PCR techniques, i.e., PCR-SSCP and PCR-SSO. We also explain the microsatellite analysis used in research on inherited disorders and cancers. |
