[ Summary ] |
Patients undergoing dialysis comprise a high-risk group showing increased susceptibility to influenza, which can become severe and result in high mortality in these patients. Dialysis treatment is essentially administered over a long time period and it is necessary to continue dialysis even in patients infected with influenza. Thus, there exists a possibility of outbreaks during influenza epidemics. Given this possibility, patient education, staff training, and environmental improvement among other such measures are warranted. Early detection/diagnosis with prompt administration of anti-influenza drugs from the early stages is important. |
